How We Work

Projects come in all shapes and sizes. When it comes to our approach, most of the time we follow the same set of steps.

  1. Contact

  2. The journey starts when you get in touch with us. You can email us, use the contact form on this website, or get in touch via Facebook or LinkedIn.

We promise not to bite, and are happy to consider any project that you might have in mind. We undertake quite a wide range of services, and are always up for a challenge.

We will get back to you as soon as we can in order to let you know whether your project is something we would like to undertake.

  3. Proposal

  4. Depending on the scope of the project, it could well be worth having a face-to-face meeting to discuss your project with you just to make sure we are on the same page.

If we think that we’d be able to do your project proud, we will send you a written proposal outlining our thoughts, as well as our fees. Our fees are competitive, especially if it’s a project we would enjoy working on!

Once you have taken a look at our proposal, we will make any amendments as necessary, and once we receive a signed copy, we’ll get cracking!

  5. Specification

  6. For every project, we give ourselves an outline of how the finished product will work and what it will consist of.

If we are building a website for you, we will create some wireframes to identify the different content elements that will be included on the finished site. At this stage it is useful for you to send us any content that you want included, so that we can have a good idea about what will go where. We also like to ask our clients about the sites they like, as well as sharing our own favourites that could be a good point of reference for the project in hand.

If we are developing a strategy for you, this stage of the process will see us outline the aspects to address in later stages.

Once the specification has been agreed with you, we can move on to the next stage.

  7. Design

  8. For graphic design or web design related tasks, there will be a design phase. This stage will see the development of outline design ideas for your project.

The nature of the design process often requires a number of design options and iterations. For website design, we will provide a graphical mock-up of key site pages to give you an idea of what the site would feel like.

  9. Delivery

  10. Once we have a firm and agreed grasp of the shape of your project, we will go about delivering it.

For websites, we like to use the open-source Drupal content management system (CMS). We’ve been using it for years, which means we know it inside out, and can get your project from drawing-board to reality in a much shorter space of time. Saying that, we are also pretty knowledgeable about other website building tools, including other content management systems (e.g. Wordpress, Joomla) as well as more traditional approaches (HTML5, CSS3, PHP, MySQL etc).

Graphics related tasks are generally undertaken using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Photoshop).

  11. Testing & Refinement

  12. We will share our work with you as soon as we are able, in order to get valuable feedback from you at the earliest opportunity. As we work on your project, we will keep regular contact, and seek feedback from you regularly to make sure that your aspirations are being met by our work.

If desired, we can undertake A-B split testing of design options with your team or with members of the public in order to gain a better understanding of what works and what doesn’t.

Refinements will be made as necessary until we are in a position to finalise the project.

  13. Completion

  14. Once your project is complete, we will hand it over to you.

Websites will be uploaded to a hosting provider of your choice (or we can provide this if you would prefer). Drawings and documents will be sent to you in appropriate formats (e.g. AI, PSD, PDF, DOC). Hard copies can be made available on request.

  15. Settling In

  16. Once your project has been completed by our team, we will remain on call for a short period to address any tweaks and small changes that you may require as soon as you start using your product in a day-to-day environment.

  17. Manage

  18. Our favourite projects are those that we have a longer term involvement in. If desired, we can provide ongoing management services for your project, covering aspects such as Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and web analytics monitoring.

  19. The Future

  20. Hopefully you will love the work that we undertake for you. If all goes well, hopefully you will choose to work with us next time you are in need of some creative input!
